After careful consideration, the SAF Board has formally decided to cancel the Seattle Arab Festival for 2026.

Given the current conditions across the Middle East, proceeding with a cultural celebration at this time would not align with the spirit and purpose of the festival.

In previous years, when challenges affected specific countries in the region, SAF has remained committed to honoring and supporting those communities—often by dedicating the festival to highlight a particular country and its culture.

This year, however, the situation is fundamentally different.

​

The impact is widespread across much of the region, with ongoing conflict and instability affecting multiple countries simultaneously, including tensions within the region itself. Under these circumstances, it is not possible to approach this year in the same way.

The Seattle Arab Festival has always been a space for joy, cultural pride, and meaningful community connection. At this moment, we believe it is important to uphold that standard with intention and respect.

We recognize that this decision carries weight for our community, our partners, and all those who have supported SAF over the years. It was not made lightly.

We remain fully committed to the future of the festival and look forward to returning in 2027.
